Life Short and Sweet: January 2017

MLK Day

I had off MLK Day, but no one else did. I debated what to do with my day. Finally, I decided to take the girls to school and then play play-dough with Lucy and read her a few books. Then Lucy and I headed to Rossville Elementary to eat lunch with Addie and drop off Subway for Katie. I then took Lucy to the sitter's and took Subway to Jason and work. I had a little alone time at home and then went and picked up the girls and took Addie and her friend to dance. It was a busy but nice day!

Happy Birthday to Addie - #7

Addie celebrated her seventh birthday on January 14th. She said she was sad not to be six anymore! We met Judi, Brad, my parents, and Aunt Megan/Uncle Andy met at PASTArrific in Kokomo. It was an ice storm, but it didn't end up being that bad so we were able to celebrate. It ended up being a great time.

That evening, I made Addie's favorite meal - shrimp and couscous. We also had some cupcakes I picked up. I failed to get a #7 candle - so we made do with some addition.

Addie's favorite gift was the Hatchimal we got here. It was the hottest toy for Christmas, but after Christmas - no so expensive or hard to find!

Honor Choir

Katie was chosen to attend honor choir. At first she was an alternate, but apparently the first one on the list, so she ended up going when another student could not. She had a lot of fun. I did not stay with her this year. She got to room with two other girls from Rossville.

Lucy - First Day of Preschool

Lucy had her first day of preschool on January 6th. She only goes on Fridays since she is three. She had no problems with me leaving - hardly said goodbye and gets a little mad each morning when I tell her it is not a preschool day.

A Day at the Children's Museum

Aunt Stacey and Uncle Jason like to get gifts that aren't things, which is really, really nice for a mommy that doesn't like toys everywhere, lol! This year, they bought the boys tickets to the Children's Museum. We decided to use them over break, so that we could all go together! We started our day at The Old Spaghetti Factory, which was delicious, and then headed on over to the museum. It was a little packed (ok, a LOT packed), but the kiddos didn't mind. We closed the place down and then headed home. It was a great day with cousins!

I had over a week off with the girls and Jason had some time off too, so we had some fun.

Christmas 2016 was great! We actually weren't super busy in December, so it was a bit more relaxed. The girls went up a little early to spend time with cousins, so Jason and I had some prep time.

The first day of our Christmas festivities found us at my parent's! We headed up today to celebrate Tiffany's birthday and then Christmas Eve tomorrow night. It's always a good time at Mom and Dad's, and this year did not disappoint!

Mom wrapped up a gift over and over and then had the kids play a dice game to see who won it. They had to roll dice until they got doubles and then had to put on a hat and gloves and start tearing away at the package. It was a hoot! Just when one kiddo would get all suited up, another would roll doubles and rip the hat and gloves right off of them! In the end, Taylor won the game. She was a sweet winner though, and decided to keep the gift at Grandma's (it was a game), so that everyone could play with it!

Of course, no December 23rd is complete without a birthday celebration for Tiffany!!! Happy 8th birthday!!!

We had a great time at my parent's on Christmas Eve. The kids played games, put on plays, decorated the garage, ate lots of food and candy, and most importantly, opened lots of presents! The adults had fun, too...there is just nothing like seeing Christmas through the eye of a child.

Uncle Eric and Aunt Tai always get unique gifts. This year was a pinata filled with candy and a certificate for a day trip to Fair Oaks Dairy! The kids had a blast trying to open the pinata!
