4-H Fair

In the middle of all the chaos, we have the 4-H fair.  It was a lot of craziness this year, but also a lot of fun.  Katie took projects in Shooting Sports, Foods - Baking, Toy Farm Scene, and Sheep.  Jason is in the thick of things at work this week each year, so the girls and I did our best!

The girls also did Open Class, so Addie did her first project!

Start of the crazy Sheep Show!
The sheep show is always a hurry up and wait day.  This year the judge was delayed with truck problems and then a huge storm went through.  It delayed the show by 2 hours.  Grandma Debbie, Grandpa Brad, Grandma Judi, Jason, Addie, and Lucy were all there to cheer on Katie.

Setting up her sheep

Katie got first in her class with her white face cross and second in her class with her Dorset!

Katie was so excited when one of our sheep member's mother asked her to help show a sheep in the Grand Champion drive.  She did such a good job and was excited to show again that day.

I didn't get in any pics of Showmanship, but Katie was in a pretty large class for Jr. Showmanship and she got Reserve Champion.  We were so proud of her because some of these kids show all over all year long.  Katie is a natural sheep showman!

Thursday was free ride day at the fair for 4-H members.  I got off work early and picked up Addie, Katie, and Stephanie (my sitter's daughter) to head off to ride.  Lucy stayed at the sitters - that would have been a little too much for an afternoon in the hot sun.  Stephanie and Katie went off with more of their friends, so Addie stuck with me most of the afternoon (she did sneak a few rides with the big kids).  I did not pay to ride, so Addie surprised me as a little riding daredevil!

All in all, a good (but long) fair!  I remember my 10 years and hope the girls enjoy the same experience.

Brubaker Reunion

Jason and I were able to take the girls to Riverside Park in Logansport for the annual Brubaker reunion.  This is Jason's mother's side of the family.  It brought back a lot of memories of my childhood because we used to go to the same park (and do the same activities) each year for the Fincher reunion.  It was a really fun time.

Riding the train

They also rode the carousel many times.  Katie loved trying for the gold ring.

Dress Up Fun

Every now and then, the girls like to dress up and act goofy.  They made Lucy the center of their fun one night in late June.
